The Maratha Empire was founded by the brave warrior Shivaji Bhosale who was known for the his guerrilla warfare against the Mughal Empire. Shivaji conquered magnanimous forts across the state of Maharashtra and also built some from scratch. This map shows some of the forts he was in possession of during his rule.
