The Only Alternative
WSOE, Elon University's student-run radio show, held a contest for a new logo. First I looked at their website to see the kind of vibe they had, and once I had an idea about that I looked up inspiration online. I tried designing with headphones and microphones, but didn't really like anything. For this logo I wanted to make it very simple, which is why the concentric circles that make the record work so well. Adding the gradient in the middle of the record adds a sort of flare that is elegant and speaks for itself. I also made the record arm out of simple shapes. Once I was finished, I tried different colors and couldn't pick which one I liked best – so I submitted them all. Check out the final designs below.
