We finished off our stay in Singapore with a session with the world-renowned Center for Creative Leadership on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the class traveled from Singapore to Perth, Western Australia, via Hong Kong. We stayed in our Perth hotel for one night and traveled to Margaret River on Thursday afternoon. On Thursday evening, we met with Professor Glen Hutchings of Curtin University and began to work on the case study competition.
On Friday, we visited Palandri, Watershed, and Leeuwin Estates for wine tastings. The class continued with work on the case study on Saturday.
On Sunday and Monday, the class will split into two groups and will be surfing and working on the case study. The case competition will occur on Tuesday at the Leeuwin Estate boardroom.
January 13, 2008
After departing for Singapore on Friday, the class settled in and resumed its activities on Saturday morning with a city tour.
On Sunday, the class held a meeting to further discuss activities in Singapore.
We will begin meeting with businesses tomorrow with a visit to 3M. We will also be visiting the US Embassy and going on a boat cruise.
January 9, 2008
The class began Tuesday with a visit with Virginia Lo and Anna Fan of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. This is where the annual Toys and Games Fair was also held. Afterwards, the class visited the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and had an opportunity to see the trading floor.
On Wednesday, we took a day trip to China's Shenzhen and Guangzhou in the Guangdong province. We visited four of the famous terra cotta soldiers (and one horse) in Shenzhen. In Guangzhou, we enjoyed a Cantonese lunch and attended a press conference with the UGarden Lifestyle Mall. We ended the visit with a trip to a park in Guangzhou and a train ride back into Hong Kong.
Tomorrow, the class will be visiting with VF Corporation before leaving on Friday for Singapore.

We took a city tour on Sunday, which included a boat tour, a jewelry factory tour, and more. Please view the images link for photos from this day.
On Monday, we visited the Hong Kong Story exhibit at the Hong Kong History Museum in Tsim Sha Tsui. We were also welcomed to Hong Kong Polytechnic University and enjoyed a lecture by Dr. Howard Davies on Hong Kong's economic past, present, and future. Our final stop was at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, with great food, magnificent views, and meaningful interactions to cap off the night.

The class departs in four days. Below are our expectations for the course and the experience as a whole.
I expect to learn a lot about international business, and also to see some great sites. I am looking forward to Perth and the wine industry. I am also excited about the case studies. -Nick Neve
Learn about other cultures and how their businesses perform. Gain a small knowledge of how people from other countries carry out their every day lives. -Jay Jones
For the trip, I hope to gain an understanding of the critical reasons behind the development of the Asian economies such as Hong Kong and Singapore. Also, I'm looking forward to tasting some new flavors of food and hopefully trying some new activities such as surfing. -Samantha Widmer
I'm looking forward to learning more about how business operates in a different region of the world, and I'm also looking forward to the relationships that I will form with the people on the trip! I hope to get a better understanding of how business is conducted in another part of the world... and I'm also looking forward to learning the best way to survive a 340,879 hour plane ride! -Elyse Granger
I am looking forward to our Pacific Rim Trip. I hope to examine and understand how the economies of the different countries function and some of the similarities and differences. I look forward to seeing different businesses and experiencing the cultures of the 3 destinations. -Andrew Bright
I cannot wait to see all the amazing things in the Pacific Rim. I've never been in that part of the world at all so this will all be new for me. -Kevin Kline

The class will depart from the United States on January 4, 2008, and will arrive in Hong Kong the next day.
In this course, students experience three distinct societies and economies: Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia.
